Humberto (1953) and Fernando (1961) were born in Brotas, a city, 250km from São Paulo in an agricultural region, rich of natural resources.

After his degree in law, Humberto decides to follow his passion about craft art and in the 80’s he opens a studio for the production of artisanal pieces.

After his degree in architecture, Fernando concentrates on the research of alternative methods to produce design pieces. He studies Le Corbusier, Oscar Niemeyer, the power of communication and the linear synthesis which allows the production of objects in small scale. He participates at the Biennale of Art at São Paulo, XVII edition.

In 1983, Humberto and Fernando work together on a big project and since then, they have become one of the most celebrated figures of contemporary design.

Their work has been recognised as unconventional: design thought for the every-day life needs. Their first exhibition in 1989 was shown at the Nucleon Gallery of São Paulo. The collection of chairs made of iron called Desconfortáveis, tells its story though the artistic language of the mistake and the present poetic discomfort. In 2009, the Campana Estúdio is chosen by Vitra Design Museum for celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Humberto and Fernando Campana have received the Special Prize at the Museu da Casa Brasileira in 2001, and they have been nominated Designer of the Year in the 2008 Design Miami Award edition.
